While in Cherokee, we visited this very child friendly museum that has been around as a science museum for several decades. Our kiddos enjoyed exploring the interactive displays and the regular exhibits for a couple of hours which impressive considering its size.

Sanford Science Museum has several professional displays on geological history of the area, anthropological history and other interesting exhibits. Baby Willow in particular liked trying on the astronaut helmet. Kid Willow was interested in the fossils and interesting rock displays. Both enjoyed the interactive room where the focus was on astrophysics on an elementary scale.

I would consider this a hidden gem of a museum. Is it as good as the Natural History Museum in London? No, but we had a peaceful time where the kiddos could fully take in the exhibits due to it being a quiet day. That is like comparing the Omaha Zoo (one of my absolute favorites) with the Como Zoo in St. Paul. Both are good and have their qualities that should be honored. I genuinely enjoyed spending time with the exhibits and not being worried about the kiddos getting lost or wander too far away.

If you are in town, please visit. Bye for now.
