Elm Creek Reserve

We visited Elm Creek on a cool spring afternoon. It was one of those days when the snow is melting still and the flowers have not begun to bloom. We’ve visited here many times before, but this was one of the first times that the kiddos really took in their surroundings. The children’s interactive learning area was particularly popular.

Our trip was a bit spur of the moment and we did not realize it was a maple syrup making day. There was a small group of people participating in the demonstration. We visited after the demonstration was over and they were still boiling the maple sap to make the syrup. The gentleman was very helpful and answered all the questions my kiddos asked.

This was the first time in spring were we could enjoy the walk without the snow and ice, but not so thawed that the path felt soft underfoot. A popular park for local families and birds. However, birds are still a bit camera shy except for one nuthatch. It’s no surprise that even in the more brown time of the year that families can enjoy a nice walk in nature.

Bye for now.
