Southern Down beach as I know it, Dunraven Bay as it is officially known, is one of my favorite beaches in the UK. Most of that might be down to fond memories over the years that have been created with loved ones. It is a cliff side beach and has areas of interest on the grassy cliffs, but I will admit to not exploring that bit at all – if all that much. In truth, I am quite hesitant to share this albeit already popular beach any further than it is already known.

We went with family to have a day trip to the beach – picnic and all. I am so glad we had this as a part of our time in the UK. The kiddos loved making sand castles and tunnels. Running to the sea and jumping the waves as they crashed to the shore was great fun for the group. I am not a fan of cold water so I stayed back. One curiosity is the lack of sea shells in the main part of the beach.

C and I took advantage of the rock formations and checked out some of the rock pools and found many little creatures while the kiddos played games with the family. This rocky part of the beach is where the shells seemed to be more prolific. I was surprised to see one of the most yellow shells I have ever seen in the rock pools. This day trip along with Lyme Regis made me miss going to the beach on a regular basis and looking for interesting shells and rocks.

To many it appears fairly average, parking tolls and all, but to me it is a nice place to be at low tide on a sunny day. I am sure that there might be more day trips for this place in the future and I am not mad about it either.
Bye for now.
