After the train museum, we met more friends for time in the gardens area surrounding York Minster. All the kiddos (small and at heart) had a great time playing with a rocket toy and running around in general. The Minster itself has some construction going on as they are replacing old worn stone with new stone carved by apprentices and stone masons. There were a few ruins areas and lovely planned flower beds all over the gardens.

Yes York has its major tourist trap areas, including the minster, but the atmosphere was pleasant and calm overall. We did not enter the minster, but having been in the past, it’s quite the building. However, if you just want to get a take away an have an impromptu picnic, the gardens area is a good fit. The groundskeepers work hard and it shows.

Bye for now,
