We met some friends at the train museum in York. This museum is free, but preregistering to control crowds is a wise move. One train engine I was actually pleased to see was “the rocket” as it is a major part of train history. Slow by today’s standards it was a big deal in its time. Sadly I only discovered this train engine due to Thomas the Tank Engine back when the kiddos liked Thomas.

C seemed to enjoy seeing all the engines. The kiddos seemed to love the variety. Their interest increased due to taking a high speed train to York from Newcastle for this day trip. Even I was impressed with all the engines in this one large open room museum and I am not a train enthusiast. To top things off there is a lovely cafe and gift shop on site. The snacks were very much enjoyed in the seated area by the kiddos and adults alike.

In general anyone that is interested in trains or even history will really like this place. It is not to everyone’s interest, but enough there for most to get something out of their visit. Even the very little ones had a great place to play in a play area.
Bye for now,
