Return to Minnehaha Park

It’s no secret that Minnehaha Park is one of my favorite places in Minneapolis. On a quiet day you can truly feel away from the city while in the city. We returned on a very busy day in late spring/ early summer for a walk from the lagoon area to the river with some good friends.

The landscape was altered by severe flooding along the creek. You could see how the river’s back flow into the creek severely eroded sections along the creek bank. Being a very busy day, we didn’t see as many animals along the path other than dogs on a leash.

When we arrived at the Mississippi River Bank just south of Ford Parkway bridge there were other visitors hanging out and enjoying the river. While attempting to skip rocks and proving to be out of practice, I saw a blue heron fishing along the edge. As they are private birds; I did not want to get close. The river was active with the heron fishing on our bank and people fishing on the other side of the river, along with people in recreational boats enjoying the sunny day.

The kiddos seemed to really enjoy themselves especially as they had a little time at the massive playground with swimming area nearby. It was a decent day overall.

Bye for now
